VQA Niagara Escarpment - Ontario
Alcohol - 13%
Wine Details - Known for producing light and fruity red wine, the Gamay grape is well suited to our region’s climate and soil. Originating from the banks of the Niagara River and the Niagara Escarpment’s benchlands, our interpretation carries notes of fresh berries and black pepper. Enjoy this wine in its youth lightly chilled with casual fare.
Tasting Note - Aromas of red cherry, strawberry compote and pepper abound, with hints of toffee, licorice and wet slate in behind. Medium in weight, the palate is built around a core of juicy blackberry fruit and light, soft tannins, punctuated by a bright hit of acidity. Judicious oak treatment brings a round, silky feel that draws notes of raspberry and spice into a long, supple finish
What the Experts Say - "Gamay is going to hit the mainstream in 2016. A variety for our times" - Jamie Goode
