Tawse, Estate Chardonnay, 2013

VQA Twenty Mile Bench - Ontario

Grape Variety - 100% Chardonnay

Certified Organic and biodynamic

Alcohol -

Wine Details - A blend of chardonnay sourced from the certified organic and biodynamic Robyn’s Block, David’s Block and Hillside estate vineyards.  Minimal intervention and no new oak is used and after 12 months in barrels without lees-stirring, the wine spends a further six months on fine lees in tanks before being bottled. The cellars are covered with earth, so as to maintain a constant temperature and humidity level (about 85%), providing ideal ageing conditions for wines in barrel.

Tasting Note - This is an aromatic chardonnay with oak spice, ripe tropical fruits, melon and white flower prevalent on the nose. A stunning Chardonnay

What the Experts Say

"With a taut, mineral nose and a fresh lemony palate this is a really impressive, linear Chardonnay with amazing finesse and some good reduction supporting the fruit. Stunning effort" Jamie Goode tasting the 2011 vintage)

"Ripe citrus and pineapple aromas – quite exotic with an attractive florality. Good attack, with concentrated fruit and high acidity, showing real intensity and pungency. Discreet, fresh and very persistent. An extremely classy wine". (Decanter Magazine)

"Spicy oak and richly flavoured fruit with featherlight acid. Sophisticated fragrance". Richard Hemming

Awarded the best Chardonnay outside of Burgundy in the Decanter tasting in July 2015
