Finger Lakes - New York State
Grape Variety - 100% Riesling
Wine Details - Three vineyards, three winemakers, one wine: Tierce Riesling. Peter Becraft of Anthony Road Wine Company, Kelby Russell of Red Newt Cellars and Peter Bell of Fox Run Vineyards represent a unique collaboration between the three wineries – integrating not only the varying vineyard expressions of Seneca Lake, but also the individual philosophies of the participating winemakers.
The iconic riesling of the Finger Lakes, in 2010 vintage was selected for the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Luncheon by U.S. Senator Charles Schumer.
Tasting Notes - Lots of lemon peel on the nose, backed up by lemon curd, wet rocks and red raspberry. Flavors in the mouth are characterised by a mixture of power and restraint. Richly textured for a dry wine. Finely poised acid carries the flavours.
What the Experts Say
“What makes the Tierce Riesling slightly different from year to year is simply the diversity of each growing season. Each year’s unique ‘finger print’ is being captured in every bottle. It is important to allow the vintage to show its true face of its growing season,” Peter Becraft.
